Armed with in depth knowledge of traditional Japanese cuisine, Chef Kondo Yosuke preserves the natural flavors of his ingredients with a simple yet refined culinary approach, delicately balanced by his unique artistic touch.
Yosuke enrolled in Tsuji Academy, the most prestigious culinary arts school in Japan, where he honed his celebrated culinary skills. Today, his creative instincts and highly refined execution have secured his position amongst Shanghai’s most acclaimed Japanese chefs.

Chef Kondo began his culinary career as an apprentice at the Sushi Dokoro Hirano in Osaka Kitashinchi (Osaka's most exclusive sushi restaurant). He had learned from famous master and is very proficient from traditional Japanese cuisine to Kaiseki cuisine. From 2013 to 2018, Chef Kondo has the experience in the traditional Japanese restaurants in Shanghai and are all well received by diners.

Ever since he moved to Shanghai, Konda has been picking up new techniques from authentic Chinese cuisine, as well as developing a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions and customs. His desire to learn more about the country inspired him to create his own innovative recipes, combining the best of Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

In his constant pursuit of perfection, Konda insists on using only the best seasonal ingredients. Konda is also admired for his warm and cheerful character, as he enjoys socialising with guests through his open kitchen while preparing food. In his eyes, Konda believes a good chef must also be observant and keep communication lines open. This helps a chef develop a better understanding of their guests’ needs and preferences as they strive to deliver the best meal possible.

Designed by the Wanda Hotel Design Institute, the 40-seat restaurant is decorated with floral and botanical patterns such as cherry blossoms and pine leaves, representing the country’s fondness for the beauty of nature. Guests are greeted at the entrance with a multi-dimensional projection featuring the beauty of the four seasons, marking a transition from the bustling city to the start of a sensational culinary journey. Upon entering, they will be seated at the sushi bar where they can watch master chef at work.

From a menu featuring traditional flavors served with courtesy and elegance, dishes are created around the finest ingredients freshly imported from Japan daily. Signature dishes include jet-fresh sashimi, sushi with a contemporary reinterpretation and sizzling teppanyaki, all created using seasonal ingredients and based on guest preferences. The restaurant also offers a selection of handmade sweets and snacks available for purchase, along with two house sake, Reign and HE, expertly brewed by sake specialists in Japan.

For those looking for an after dinner drink, head up to RuiKu on the top floor (21/F) of Wanda Reign on the Bund. The exclusive dining venue boasts stunning views of the Bund’s historic waterfront and Pudong’s futuristic skyline. In the evening, it transforms into a terrace bar where patrons can sip Champagne and enticing cocktails to beats from world-famous DJs.
